LARK STREET BID HOSTS HALLOWEEN PARADE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD FAMILIES
Lark Street BID Corridor businesses to hand out treats as trick-or-treaters and their parents proceed down guided route
ALBANY, N.Y. (Oct. 30, 18) — Together with Washington Park Neighborhood Association member Shadi Khadivi, The Lark Street BID (“BID”) Board of Directors and Staff coordinated with businesses in the BID Corridor last week to ask for their participation in handing out treats to trick-or-treaters on Halloween, this Wednesday. The BID distributed treats to dozens of member businesses, which will be handed out to eager trick-or- treaters as they proceed down a guided route throughout the BID Corridor.
This is the second consecutive year the BID has hosted a Halloween Parade for kids. Last year’s event included over 30 kids and their families, with stops at over 20 businesses in the BID Corridor.
“We want families to think of Lark Street as a place where they can feel safe and enjoy spending time with each other. Events like this provide much needed recreation time for kids, and a good opportunity for parents to get to know their neighbors, as well as the general layout of our street,” said Shauna Collins, Executive Director of the Lark Street BID.
Earlier this month, the BID met with Albany Police Department Chief Eric Hawkins to familiarize the newly appointed department head with the geography covered by the BID and the surrounding Neighborhood Associations.
“Going forward, we’ll be continuing to work with our community partners including the APD, Department of General Services, Buildings and Regulatory Compliance, as well as other community groups to address important issues in the BID Corridor. Our goal is for Lark Street to be a safe, enjoyable environment for families, businesses, and visitors to the area. Through our ongoing relationships with these City agencies we hope to accomplish that,” said Lark Street BID Chair, Dan Atkins.
